Hololoot Coin HOL

Introduction

Hololooot is a Web3-powered Augmented Reality (AR) generator, marketplace, and viewer. Using AR assets linked to NFTs, Hololoot gives users ownership of the 3D models they use in-app. By leveraging the latest developments in AR technology, Hololoot allows anyone with a mobile device to access the metaverse in 3D and to experience exciting virtual worlds without the need for VR headsets.

Project History

Hololoot was founded in early 2021 by an AR veteran Adam Białoń. The project was launched to bridge two growing technologies: AR and NFTs. There was a clear path forward for augmented reality, however, at the start of 2021, the technology was still searching for its first use case capable of driving mass adoption. The need for costly equipment like VR headsets and powerful computers also restricted the growing interest in the metaverse.

Hololoot’s $HOL token launched on December 13, 2021, on the BNB chain network. In 2022 Hololoot ticked off several major milestones and product releases by the year’s end:

• March 09 - public launch of the Hololoot beta on Apple’s TestFlight
• March 31 - in-app marketplace launch for beta testers
• July 27 - first release on the Android Play Store
• November 10 - full listing on Apple’s App Store

Functionality

In its current iteration, the Hololoot app contains the following features:

• Buying and claiming free assets from the in-app marketplace
• Environment mapping
• Real-time AR asset view and manipulation
• Creating videos and photos in-app
• Asset collection management via in-app wallet

Other features will soon be added. The most prominent ones include - AR NFTs trading via a marketplace, utilizing geolocated AR assets (much like Pokémon Go), generating unique AR NFTs using users’ 3D models, and utilizing 2D NFT files to place in the environment as AR-ready stickers. Eventually, Hololoot will feature multi-user modes, allowing users to share their AR setups and interact with others in real-time.

Hololoot also offers engagement-driven B2B marketing opportunities via its app. Brands can launch promotional assets to users in AR and create a unique experience for their customers.

Technologies

Hololoot uses technologies like ARkit, AR Foundation, and glTF files to give users an immersive experience. The app takes advantage of depth cameras and LIDAR to create high-precision scans of rooms that recognize parameters and the objects they contain.

Hololoot AR also uses a technology called Light Estimation to generate environment probes in real-time from physical, real-world rooms. The app detects environment light data like temperature and brightness and then applies it to the 3D models with color correction. This allows the models to light dynamically, mimicking the real world.

Future plans

Hololoot’s development roadmap stretches over several years as predicted advances in AR technology come to fruition. Geolocation, P2P marketplace services, multi-user experiences, and AR hardware integration are all key parts of the roadmap that are expected to see completion throughout 2023 and 2024.

As AR becomes increasingly integrated into how we engage with technology and the world around us, Hololoot is positioned to take full advantage of the uptick in users. More powerful mobile devices, growing Web3 literacy, and the release of consumer-ready AR hardware will only mean more opportunities for businesses and consumers to leverage Hololoot’s services.

With that said, the whole Web3 industry still lacks a significant driver of mass adoption as the killer app, mentioned before, has yet to be recognized. There are many experimental principles at stake of which only a small fraction will survive harsh economic sentiment. In other words, for Web3 to generate value, it has to solve the problems and pain points of the users.
