Jambo Review: $J Airdrop Strategy and App Rewards
In this article we review the mobile web3 project Jambo. With its upcoming airdrop snapshot we provide strategies for eligibility and assess the in-app rewards.
Jambo is a crypto project that gathered a big publicity by releasing their own “web3-native” phone with the intention of bringing more web3 infrastructure to Africa and other third-world areas. They received notable investment from Paradigm and other crypto VCs to help them with this venture.
In Jambo ecosystem there are many possibilities of gathering rewards and with the $J airdrop snaphot nearing it is now a best time time review this project so you can decide if its worth engaging or not.
💡TL;DR:
- Jambo is a mobile-first web3 project focusing on community engagement, rewards and social media in developing markets.
- Recently they launched their native $J token, which will be airdropped to users later during January 2025.
- To become eligible for the airdrop, users should download the Jambo app an their Android device and complete quests.
- Jambo released their JamboPhone 2 physical device which will offer additional options for rewards and boosted points from quests on the Jambo app.
What is Jambo?
As stated in the intro, Jambo is focusing on providing physical mobile devices which can be used to farm engagement and generate rewards. Users will receive a native web-3 support (crypto wallet) in their phone, which helps with transacting and reward collection.
If you do not own the Jambo phone, you can download the Jambo app from the Google Play store. This app should serve a similar purpose, that is completing tasks and collecting rewards - however purchasing the phone also should qualify you for an extra airdrop portion.
Recently the aixbt AI agent on X has endorsed this project, driving its popularity.

How to Qualify for $J Airdrop?
The conditions for airdrop qualification are quite unclear so we will have to guess a little bit.
First and foremost you will have to download the Jambo app from the Google Play store. Once you have the app, the next steps are simple: complete quests and farm JPoints. There is no official conversion ratio between JPoints and the actual $J currency, but we expect it to be 1:1 with a big price volatility on $J.
You can complete quests all the way until January 19th, which is when the snapshot is due. After that you will have to wait for another airdrop (or earndrop as they say).
According to the official Jambo website, you can also boost your chances of winning the airdrop by purchasing the new JamboPhone 2.
$J Token Listings
Just recently on Jan 9th, the $J token was listed on the OKX exchange. New users of OKX can compete in a game and join a 3M $J price pool. Trading of $J on OKX will begin on January 22nd.

JamboPhone 2 - Is it any Good?
It seems the JamboPhone should be widely accessible for broad adoption with its low price of $99 per device. However the question is whether the phone is any good for this price.
According to the original description, the device should be equipped with JamboPlay dapp store, JamboEarn opportunities and JamboWallet.
These options are definitely interesting, but most of these you could get with just the Jambo App without the standalone device. Although note that you will receive bonus points for your quests if you own a JamboPhone.
To justify the low price, users will probably be prompted to engage with Jambo content, fulfill tasks, such as social media activities, trading the $J coin and so on. For this reason you need to make sure that the rewards will be enough to make all this hassle worth it.
Final Verdict
Jambo is an interesting project that definitely delivers on their promises. With a funding of series A $30M and low-priced devices we believe they will be able sustain large-scale adoption.
However the most important aspect is the motivation itself - users are expecting rewards and their loyalty will depend on how much they gain.
At this point we don’t know how high the rewards will go or what the price per $J will be. It is fair to assume that once $J tokens will get airdropped into users wallets, they will start offloading and the price of $J will go down.
Your best pick is probably gathering as much points as possible during the pre-airdrop period and then cash out ASAP before others front-run you.
